With the COVID-19 pandemic showing no signs of letting up, hip-hop, soul and R&B festival FLAVS is to be held virtually.
The festival was originally scheduled for April 4-5 but then postponed to Aug. 15-16 because of the outbreak.
“We will still run live,” FLAVS festival director Muhammad Riza said in a virtual press conference on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
“We will still [run the shows] live, and we will provide what people can get out of a festival. We will still have four stages,” Riza said.
According to the original plan, the festival was to include international acts like Azealia Banks, Stormzy and Lil Pump, but all had to cancel due to the coronavirus outbreak. “This year, we will only show local artists,” Riza said.
The new lineup is said to feature more than 40 performers, including rapper Iwa K, diva Reza Artamevia, and Indobeatbox.
The festival will launch a mobile app to screen the virtual concert, where the audience can contribute by expressing reactions and making comments in a chat box.
According to FLAVS's Instagram post, ticket holders can refund their previous purchases. Additionally, the festival is currently selling tickets for the virtual show at new prices, starting from Rp 99,000 (US$6.99) for a day pass. Tickets can be purchased through the website.
